2025
[Participants] Students from 1st to 3rd year of BA in Design from Tec.
[Time and place] 3-day workshop at Tec de Monterrey (ITESM) Campus Toluca, Estado de México.
[Activities Description] In teams of 5, students had to (1) research, (2) devise, (3) develop a design proposal, (4) prototype and (5) present. The project focused on designing to plant or tree living inside the campus area in order to learn about it through research and observation. This would enable students to identify with the chosen specie and understand it as a living being with agency and equal to the human. Each team had to chose one of the concept guidelines as a starting point.
1. To design an object that improves the life of the plant or tree according to its needs.
2. To design an object that encourages a human-plant/tree relationship, meaning, that the product will bring people towards the plant and create togetherness.
The process was analogously documented through writing and visuals.
[Facilitators] Yuliana Tónix, Andrea Zelaya, and other faculty members.
[Results] All projects are by participating students. The results go from objects that help to collect fruit before it raws on the ground for animals and people. To objects that through color and sunlight help to improve leaves' photosynthesis and growth. As well as, objects that help irrigation during dry season.
